History

The Bulge was conceived in the hallways of a local Fortune 500 Company, when three guys with a little free time and a shared distaste for generating cover sheets for TPS reports decided to spend an evening at the domicile of local band legend, Johnny Wah.
At Wah’s, we pulled out our axes, bass, and the legendary Cry Baby Wah pedal and, singing through a commandeered Karaoke microphone, rocked our way through such staples as "Woolie Boolie", "Louie Louie" and "Tomorrow Never Knows". "Dunkle Bulge" was born (similar to a large hoofed animal dropping a calf on the Serengeti Plain).

"Dunkle Bulge", you ask? Yes, the two words went together like peanut butter and the roof of your mouth, and were an irrational homage to the name of our now departed keyboardist. When our keyboardist left us, the name logically became "The Bulge".

The Bulge bounced from living room to garage to backyard barbecue, honing their craft and slowly finding their place in the Rock and Roll World.

Our beloved Johnny Wah eventually freed himself from The Bulge, and is now doing what he loves best – in the studio producing some great music.

Wah’s exit opened the door for Heath to jump to guitar and our friend Dave DeMitchell stepped in to play bass. We continued to confound and amaze our friends at parties, company picnics, and the occasional "Goat Fest" until Dave's departure.

At this point, we were wondering where the The Bulge would go next. We happened to jam with the bassist for Killer Rabbit and decided to steal him! Thankfully, he went along with our evil plot and with the help of our good friends from Medusa we got our first real paying gig at Shady Oaks. (Thanks Fred!)

Craig helped take us to the next level. It didn't hurt that he knew everybody in the world and soon enough, he had people coming out in droves to see what antics we might be up to next. Time spent away from his family and school while rocking out on the road and donning Village Poeple and DEVO costumes eventually started to add up and Craig announced that he needed to free himself from the huge time commitment of being in a band. With a tear in our eye, we bid him fondly adieu and started the search for our new bassist.

Enter "7 String Keith". You can't beleive he actually plays a 7 string bass and we still can't either! But, he rocks out so hard that we just couldn't pass him up - and he quickly become one of the few, the loud, The Bulge!

Eventually Chris became caught up with another band which was playing more dance-able music, and decided to leave. The Bulge found another great singer Patrick, and we gave it a good go, playing a few gigs. However, Chris was a core member of The Bulge, and it wasn't quite the same without him. The remaining members decided to put The Bulge on hiatus, exploring a few side projects.

Eventually, everyone came to their senses, and Chris, Paul, and Heath are now back together as The Bulge!
